INTRODUCTION
These days, people are interconnected through the vast network of the Internet. In the heart of this digital landscape lies a place known as "Ctrl Centre", a modern cyber cafe. At Ctrl Centre, for 24 hours, we offer high-speed internet, immersive gaming setups, and a vibrant atmosphere coverage for both recreation and collaboration in the bustling landscape of cyberspace.
1. BUSINESS
This section discusses the business aspect of our proposed cyber cafe. Ctrl Central wishes to run a legitimate and helpful business to provide help to the community. To use our services, we charge an hourly rate of RM5 for everyone. For those that require printing and scanning services, we charge RM0.10 for each paper and we will happily provide the necessary papers for printing.
The cafe will provide 6 units of desktops. This includes 5 traditional desktops and 1 desktop connected to a printer for professional/work usage. Additionally, we wish to install 4 cassette air conditioners along the 4 corners of the lot for maximum ventilation and cooling. Not only that, a toilet will also be installed in the far end of the lot and split between male and female for guaranteed privacy and comfortability. As with most cyber cafes, we will also provide refreshments in the form of snacks and drinks that customers can purchase during their sessions.
Marketing can make or break a business, so having a strong online presence is necessary for us to ensure that we are always relevant. A social media marketing manager selection will be done to pick and choose our ideal candidates to form our marketing team.
Cyber cafes are notorious and infamous for exploiting certain laws back in the earlier days. However, in Ctrl Central, we will do our best to comply with the law and enforcing policies to our customers to make sure that they do not cross any legal boundaries. Therefore, we have a policy that bans school students committing truancy to enter our establishment, and we also promise to provide data privacy and anonymity for users that log in to their accounts on any platform.
In 2023, payment systems have advanced to the point that cash is almost obsolete. Therefore, Ctrl Centre aims to have a cashless system to provide financial flexibility to its customers. We accept payments in cash, online banking and E-wallet services such as Touch 'n' Go.
Additionally, our staff is well equipped with technical knowledge for any customer service needs whether it be troubleshooting errors or connection problems. A feedback system is also a priority for us to ensure that we not only satisfy our customers but also improve upon our established foundation.
Regular maintenance is a key factor to keep our business thriving. Because of this, we will run a bi-weekly maintenance schedule for software and hardware upkeep. This not only helps to minimize downtime but also provide optimal performance.
Furthermore, we plan to invest heavily into monitoring and security plans to mitigate potential risks. A robust monitoring system would be implemented to track computer usage and identify suspicious activity. Not only that, we are looking into installing CCTV inside and outside of the cafe for extra security.
2. TARGET MARKET
Ctrl Central's primary target market is students, young professionals, tourists, and anyone else who wishes to use the Internet. Students who come in can utilize our services to get their assignments done or for gaming with their friends. The professionals are able to have their temporary workspace, and tourists can use the Internet for their personal purpose. The objective is to provide an environment that is adaptable and meets the various demands of the community.
3. LOCATION
While it was a challenge to locate a strategic place for our cafe, we managed to find what we believed to be the perfect spot. Located at 23, Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho 2, Taman Laksamana Cheng Ho, 75050 Melaka whilst surrounded by multiple schools, which are Sekolah Menengah Yok Bin, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Kota and Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Bandar. This helps our business as students are our planned main customers. In addition to that, the area is close to a residential area which can be beneficial to certain people that don't have transportation to gain access to the Internet.
4. HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
As we know, technology and internet access is the bread and butter of every cyber cafe. Ctrl Central is committed to making THE cyber experience. As such, only the latest and best gears are offered in our cafe!
Let's start with the hardware. With advanced tech comes advanced users. This is why we chose top of the line PC specs for all the gamers and professionals to use. Powered by AMD Ryzen 5 5500 and RTX 40-series GPUs, our computers can handle any task thrown at them, whether it's heavy gaming or casual work. Top it off with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, multitasking and storage is not a worry at all. And all of this comes at a decent price of RM4100.
For the peripherals, each unit of our Acer Predator Cestus 315 Gaming Mouse comes at a low cost of RM99 along with guaranteed high quality. On top of it, or rather below is the Aukey Gaming Mousepad, which covers almost the entirety of a desk for only RM23.90 a piece. To provide the best typing and gaming experience, we opted for the Aula F2088 True Mechanical Keyboard coming in at RM89.90. And for the headphones, we decided on the Razer Blackshark V2 as it has an amazing balance of clear sound quality and comfortability.
Of course, all of these wouldn't come to fruition if you can't see what's going on. And that is where the monitor comes in. For the price of RM699, we chose Samsung's latest SR35 series Flat 27" Monitor, which provides seamless gaming and working experience with its FHD display along with 75Hz refresh rate.
When it comes to software, fellow gamers and professionals can rest easy knowing that we provided the best platforms for their needs. Every single computer will have all the trending games pre-installed as well as some underrated ones. For the professionals, we've got your back covered. Any workspace you can think of will be there whether it's Microsoft Office, Onedrive, Adobe apps for the creative team, and more!
For every cyber cafe, computer security and integrity is important to ensure that the threat of a virus is nonexistent. As such, we've installed Norton Antivirus and Norton Firewall as another layer of security. And of course, downloading software from untrusted or suspicious websites is not allowed unless the admin is present and allows it.
Lastly, let's look into the total cost of running our planned cyber cafe. These are estimates on an hourly basis. From our testing, the average desktop power consumption is 200 Watts for 6 units, that's 1200 Watts. On top of that, the 4 air-conditioners will have an average power usage of 4500 Watts. Our planned LED light strips placed within the establishment has a power usage of 100 Watts. Along with the 60 Watt CCTV system and 100 Watt mini refrigerator to keep drinks cool, this sums up to a total of 5960 Watts. The total monthly cost to run the establishment would be RM215.25.
